chalk and cheese churches!

Hi everyone,
It's been so long since I've blogged, I'm not sure I'll remember how! Actually I've been spending any spare time I have getting back into my craft! I seem to go in spits and spurts where I love doing it, then I don't touch it again for ages! Anyway I was thinking I should finish all my half finished projects before I go, so I've been on a mission.
But I thought I would share our day on Sunday with you all, because it was quite extraordinary! In the morning we went to St Andrews at Walkerville (one of the poshest suburbs in Adelaide!) We actually got married there and I went there during all my teenage years. It was lovely to feel at home there again despite the years of being away. We walked in as the bells were chiming we chanted the Anglican liturgy, and there were men and women in dresses up the front - they were the priest and servers!! The sun shone through the beautiful stained glass windows and the pipe organ played the hymns. Oh and at the end we sang God Save the Queen for her jubilee year!! There was no-one below 50 and besides one asian lady the rest were all caucasion.
In the afternoon we then went to an Ethiopian pentecostal service. We were the only white people there amongst 80 Ethiopians and there were little kids everywhere (and super super cute!) The whole service was in Geez so we didn't understand a word, and it took 45 mins to sing the first 2 songs. There was lots of African dancing and beautiful but really loud worship. However the people were lovely and so kind to us - they sent us away with a beautiful money gift and their warm support.
I was amazed that you couldn't get two more different services and more different styles of worship but each was special and we could feel at home in both because we were with our brothers and sister in Christ! It will be a bit like heaven - so many cultures all worshipping together!  It will be amazing. Pipe organs, African music, young people, old, black, white, English, Geez, and all with one purpose - to worhip and bring glory and honour to God.........bring the day closer!
